The old site was based on the open source social network Forem, which I love, but is intended for deployment to a cloud provider (e.g. Digital Ocean), and those cloud fees were draining my pennies. I had always intended to figure out how to run Forem from a computer here in Beacon, but…who has the time! If anyone other than me had contributed content to the old site, I would have ported that content to this new site, but there was none to speak of, and so we start anew.
What you’re looking at now is an installation of Discourse which is running on a computer in Beacon for basically $0, and will serve the purpose (of me basically talking to myself) just fine.
